Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries has provided quality services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities for over fifty years. Evergreen supports over 1,000 individuals in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky. While a majority of these individuals are served in community homes, many have grown emotionally to be able to live in supported independent living programs in our communities.
The Client Needs Fund is the vital funding source for addressing necessities for most of our clients. The clients’ personal needs range from:
- Motorized wheelchairs
- Communication devices for nonverbal
- Eye glasses
- Eye surgery
- Hearing Aids
- Dental work
- Clothing
- Furniture
Jill Burda, VP of Development for the Evergreen Foundation reports: “In 2009, the Client Needs Fund paid for the funerals of two clients who had no family. The expense for these kinds of needs and so many necessities are not budgeted through Medicaid or any state funding and the immediate problem is, the Client Needs Fund is out of money!”
